Numbers 26:65

For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, besides children.

And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness.

I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

And the names of the men are these: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in his goodness: otherwise you also shall be cut off.

Except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he has trodden upon, and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.

And this is the reason why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness on the way, after they came out of Egypt.

I intend therefore to put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
