Aaron shall be gathered to his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
And he earnestly instructed them, and said to them, I am to be gathered to my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the complaining of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
And why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.
Under the supervision of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and you shall appoint to them in charge all their burdens to carry.
And die in the mountain where you are going up, and be gathered to your people; as Aaron your brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered to his people:
And of Levi he said, Let your Thummim and your Urim be with your holy one, whom you proved at Massah, and with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah;
And she said to the men, I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor the works which he had done for Israel.
