A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.

Therefore thus says the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his descendents: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, says the LORD; because he has taught rebellion against the LORD.

And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched to the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eats up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a greater nation and mightier than they.

But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died about the matter of Korah.

And the people complained to Moses, and spoke, saying, Would to God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

And the donkey saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain you, and saved her alive.

And those that died in the plague were twenty four thousand.

Neither should you murmur, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?

And to whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, but to those who believed not?

I intend therefore to put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
