Yet if they shall consider themselves in the land to which they were taken captives, and repent, and make request to you in the land of those who took them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his will: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the foreign wives.

And the children of Israel, which had come again out of captivity, and all those who had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

O LORD God of Israel, you are righteous: for we remain yet delivered, as it is this day: behold, we are before you in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before you because of this.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy descendents have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.

Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you: both I and my father’s house have sinned.

And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all those who had separated themselves from the people of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

They stayed by their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

Thus I cleansed them from all foreigners, and assigned the duties of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;

Rescue me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:

Send your hand from above; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;

He who covers his sins shall not prosper: but he who confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

Therefore you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they are filled from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves with the children of strangers.

We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against you.

Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have spread your ways among the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice, says the LORD.

And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;

They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
