And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.

Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink sweet drinks, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be grieved.

And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.

As the days in which the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned for them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions of food one to another, and gifts to the poor.

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Your testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

Therefore I love your commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

The entrance of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.

I will delight myself in your statutes: I will not forget your word.

My lips shall utter praise, when you have taught me your statutes.

I have longed for your salvation, O LORD; and your law is my delight.

The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

MEM. O how I love your law! it is my meditation all the day.

Your words were found, and I did eat them; and your word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name, O LORD God of hosts.

And they said to one another, Did not our hearts burn within us, while he talked with us on the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I do not find out.

And those who dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts to one another; because these two prophets tormented those who dwelt on the earth.
