And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and those that are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

And the governor said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,

And that we would not give our daughters to the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:

And the governor said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.

And Nehemiah, who is the governor, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, set their seal on it.

And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
