And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he goes through, both treads down, and tears in pieces, and none can deliver.

Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, you are gone up: he stooped down, he lay down as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

You make darkness, and it is night: in which all the beasts of the forest creep forth.

Through you will we push down our enemies: through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

Now consider this, you that forget God, so that I do not tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

A lion which is strongest among beasts, and does not turn away for any;

Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safely, and none shall deliver it.

So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall plunder those who plundered them, and rob those who robbed them, says the Lord GOD.

For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like the sheep of Bozrah, like the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make a loud noise because of the multitude of men.

Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass: and you shall beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their possessions unto the Lord of the whole earth.

And I will make her who limped a remnant, and her who was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from this time forwards, even for ever.

Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she who labors in birth has brought forth: then the remnant of his people shall return to the children of Israel.

Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he does not retain his anger for ever, because he delights in mercy.

And they shall be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be put to shame.

For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall strike the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.

And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

And if the family of Egypt do not go up, and do not come, that have no rain; there shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike the heathen that do not come up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the LORD of hosts.

He crouched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesses you, and cursed is he that curses you.

And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

And when they were opposed, and blasphemed, he shook his garments, and said to them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from this time on I will go to the Gentiles.

See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard him;
