Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in birth labor: for now shall you go forth out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go even to Babylon; there shall you be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies.

And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

And the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were next to the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.

Therefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh from among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and took him to Babylon.

And those who had escaped from the sword he took away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth has the LORD God of heaven given me; and he has instructed me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought low all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, says the LORD of hosts.

Go out from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, proclaim it even to the end of the earth; say, The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.

Take the waistband that you have gotten, which is upon your loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

And I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.

Hear therefore the word of the LORD, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in birth labor, and the anguish as of her that brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.

Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be like the heart of a woman in her birth pangs.

And the king of Babylon struck them down, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was taken away captive out of his own land.

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, You are not my people, there it shall be said to them, You are the sons of the living God.

The sorrows of a woman in birth labor shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not remain long in the opening of the womb during birth.

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak encouragingly to her.

But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth for me who is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she who labors in birth has brought forth: then the remnant of his people shall return to the children of Israel.

And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
