And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of instructing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan;

And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,

And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.

And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people were astonished at his teaching.

And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, Where did this man receive these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to him, that even such mighty works are done by his hands?

And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

And all bore him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

And the Jews marveled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned?

The officers answered, No man ever spoke like this man.
