Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but that rather a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see to it yourselves.
And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover lamb, his disciples said to him, Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the passover?
And Jesus said to them, All of you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, so that they would not be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
