Then Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, so that they do not faint on the way.

And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of grain in the husk thereof. And he said, Give to the people, that they may eat.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

When Jesus heard of it, he departed from there by boat into a lonely place apart: and when the people had heard of it, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

And his disciples said to him, Where should we get so much bread in the wilderness, to fill so great a multitude?

So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were widely scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

And often it has thrown him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep.

And while the day was coming on, Paul pleaded with them all to take food, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that you have waited and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
