Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way: When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

Then one said to him, Behold, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to speak with you.

Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead who sought the young child’s life.

No man also sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the patch pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse.

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him.

And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Son, why have you thus dealt with us? Behold, your father and I have sought you sorrowing.

And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brothers, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

His mother said to the servants, Whatever he says to you, do it.

But when his brothers had gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but as if in secret.

His brothers therefore said to him, Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do.

For neither did his brothers believe in him.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Do we not have the right to lead around a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and like the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

But I saw none of the other apostles, except James the Lord’s brother.
