And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and stay all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will remain in the street all night.

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, unless you bless me.

Who alone spreads out the heavens, and treads upon the waves of the sea,

Who lays the beams of his chambers in the waters: who makes the clouds his chariot: who walks upon the wings of the wind:

The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the army of the Egyptians,

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with fair colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.

But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

But know this, that if the head of the household had known in what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have let his house be broken into.

Watch ye therefore: for you know not when the master of the house is coming, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning:

And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.

But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a spirit, and cried out:

And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

And they drew near to the village, to which they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the army in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that those that remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
