And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man takes in: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.

And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became food to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered.

For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way like a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.

Who may go out before them, and who may go in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

And Jesus went on, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

Then Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, so that they do not faint on the way.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were widely scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran on foot to there out of all cities, and arrived before them, and came together to him.

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a lonely place, and now the hour is late:

In those days the multitude being very numerous, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him, and said to them,

I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

Therefore in all things it was necessary for him to be made like his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
