And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, I want you to give me soon in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
And his offering was one silver charger, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them were full of fine flour mixed with oil for a food offering:
And she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
And she went out, and said to her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes who sat with him, he would not reject her.
