For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that he hates divorce: for a man covers violence with his garment, says the LORD of hosts: therefore be careful of your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.

Then came his disciples, and said to him, Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and testing him desired of him that he would show them a sign from heaven.

And he answered and said to them, What did Moses command you?

And the Pharisees came out, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, testing him.

And he instructed them, saying, Be careful, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

And the Lord said to him, Now do you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inside is full of plunder and wickedness.

And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?

And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized by him.

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled a council, and said, What are we going to do? For this man does many miracles.

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if anyone knew where he was, he should make it known, that they might take him.

The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?

This they said, testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he did not hear them.

Neither should we provoke Christ, as some of them also provoked, and were destroyed by serpents.
