When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

Among the smooth stones of the stream is your portion; they, they are your lot: even to them have you poured a drink offering, you have offered a food offering. Should I receive comfort in these things?

For I the LORD love justice, I hate robbery as a burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul has not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.

The priests shall not eat of anything that is dead of itself, or torn, whether it be fowl or beast.

O Israel, you have destroyed yourself; but in me is your help.

That which dies of itself, or is torn by beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith: I am the LORD.

Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered to him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,

Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

O my people, what have I done to you? and how have I wearied you? testify against me.

Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? neither do you kindle fire on my altar for nothing. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

The LORD will cut off the man who does this, the teacher and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him who offers an offering unto the LORD of hosts.

And this have you done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, so that he does not regard the offering any more, or receive it with good will at your hand.

Moreover when you fast, do not be, like the hypocrites, of a sad appearance: for they make their faces unsightly, that they may appear to men to fast. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, you shall not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.

Why do you trample on my sacrifice and my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
