But he who hears, and does not do, is like a man who built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream beat furiously, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and did not prepare himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

But those my enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring here, and slay them before me.

And why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do the things which I say?

He is like a man who built a house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat furiously upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purifies it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor was in vain.

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made known that they were not all of us.
