There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Who say, Stand back, do not come near me; for I am holier than you are. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word; Your brethren who hated you, who cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

And in the seventh day the priest shall look at the plague: and, behold, if the scale does not spread, and there be in it no yellow hair, and the scale be not in sight deeper than the skin;

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners, and eats with them.

And he said to them, You are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not like other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he had gone to be a guest with a man that is a sinner.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him: for she is a sinner.

Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Do we not rightly say that you are a Samaritan, and have a devil?

Then they reviled him, and said, You are his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.

They answered and said to him, You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him out.

And he said to me, Depart: for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat; and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats: for God has received him.

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
