For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember me for your goodness’ sake, O LORD.

For innumerable evils have surrounded me: my iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head: therefore my heart fails me.

I said, LORD, be merciful to me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.

And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshiped, every man in his tent door.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

That you may remember, and be astonished, and never open your mouth any more because of your shame, when I am pacified toward you for all that you have done, says the Lord GOD.

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from your precepts and from your judgments:

Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

But go ye and learn what that means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice: for I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone: that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off:

And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down, and prayed,

And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, beat their breasts, and returned.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

Now when they heard this, they were pierced in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and kindred, what shall we do?

But God commends his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

For behold this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly way, what earnestness it worked in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what correction of wrongs! In all things you have shown yourselves to be clear in this matter.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
