Then said he to the keeper of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why does it take up the ground?

Now therefore let me alone, that my anger may grow hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation.

He cried aloud, and said thus, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the beasts go away from under it, and the birds from its branches:

And when you shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then you shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised to you: it shall not be eaten of.

Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.

Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.

And he answering said to him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig around it, and dung it:

And now also the axe is laid to the root of the trees: every tree therefore which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purifies it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

If a man does not abide in me, he is thrown away as a branch, and withers; and men gather them, and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
