But if that servant says in his heart, My lord is delaying his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
As I live, says the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became food to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in pieces, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
And be careful of yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with gluttony, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
And said to him, Every man at the beginning sets out good wine; and when men have had plenty to drink, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now.
For you allow it, if a man brings you into bondage, if a man devours you, if a man takes from you, if a man exalts himself, if a man strikes you on the face.
And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; considering that he has no part nor inheritance with you.
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as those who count it a pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceptions while they feast with you;
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for by whom a person is overcome, by the same is he brought in bondage.
