From men which are your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their wealth to their babes.

Look at the birds of the air: for they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room in which to store my fruits?

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have plenty of goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them: how much more are you better than the birds?

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I do not fear God, nor regard man;

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

Come on now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Instead you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall live, and do this, or that.
