Without me they shall be brought down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
For though you had stricken the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go back to our own people, and to the land of our birth, from the oppressing sword.
Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.
And I will set my face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies: those who hate you shall reign over you; and you shall flee when none pursues you.
The horseman lifts up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcasses; and there is no end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of plunderers that plundered them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the army: and the army fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, to Tabbath.
And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was struck down before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.
