Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
And you, even yourself, shall cease from your heritage that I gave you; and I will cause you to serve your enemies in the land which you do not know: for you have kindled a fire in my anger, which shall burn for ever.
And their houses shall be given to others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD.
Therefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it has no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if perhaps it yields, the strangers shall swallow it up.
Therefore their goods shall become a plunder, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine of them.
