And he has violently taken away his tabernacle like a booth in a garden: he has destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD has caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and has despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.

The people of your holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down your sanctuary.

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

But if you will not listen to me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As my anger and my fury has been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured out upon you, when you shall enter into Egypt: and you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.

Thus shall you say to him, The LORD says thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

The voice of those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, vengeance for his temple.

The ways of Zion mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

The anger of the LORD has scattered them; he will no longer regard them: they did not respect the persons of the priests, they did not favor the elders.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.

Princes are hung up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honored.

Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and has done all these things, he shall not escape.

And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.

I will gather those who long for the solemn assembly, who are of your people, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as you have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.
