And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if you do not tell this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.

And the time drew near that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; do not bury me, I pray you, in Egypt:

And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, Blessed be you by the LORD, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.

And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you: and I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing.

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king: and he said, Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall your life be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to those who devise good.

A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and instructed him, See that you tell no one that you have shown these things to me.

And that you will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

But Joshua had said to the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out from there the woman, and all that she has, as you swore to her.

And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwells in Israel even until this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: nevertheless, if there be in me iniquity, slay me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?
