From that time on many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
And those who are turned back from the LORD; and those who have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for him.
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
And Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
And Jesus was invited, and also his disciples, to the marriage.
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?
But there are some of you that do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe, and who would betray him.
His brothers therefore said to him, Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do.
Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed in him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
This you know, that all those who are in Asia have turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
Now the just shall live by faith: but if anyone draws back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made known that they were not all of us.
