And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray you, drink a little water from your pitcher.

Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin comes forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray you, a little water from your pitcher to drink;

So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

And whoever shall give one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.

Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me a drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.

Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat in this way on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
