Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word; Your brethren who hated you, who cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
Blessed are you, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
If I had not done among them the works that no other man did, they would not have had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
Then said they to him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, You neither know me, nor my Father: if you had known me, you would have known my Father also.
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him I declare to you.
Behold, what manner of love the Father has given us, that we should be called the children of God: therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know him.
