Then he came to Simon Peter: and Peter said to him, Lord, do you wash my feet?

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s strap I am not worthy to unloose.

After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.

Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you know not now; but you shall know afterwards.
