And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at dinner, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of very precious spikenard; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep.

And John calling to him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Are you he who should come? Or do we look for another?

Then said Martha to Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Therefore his sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick.

Then when Mary had come to where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

You call me Master and Lord: and you speak rightly; for so I am.

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
