Our fathers did not understand your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of your mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Evil men do not understand judgment: but those who seek the LORD understand all things.

Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his place.

Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

All these things spoke Jesus to the multitude in parables; and without a parable he did not speak to them:

Jesus said to them, Have you understood all these things? They said to him, Yes, Lord.

But without a parable spoke he not to them: and when they were alone, he explained all things to his disciples.

These things have I spoken to you in proverbs: but the time is coming, when I shall no more speak to you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the Father.

His disciples said to him, Lo, now you are speaking plainly, and speak no proverb.

The Jews therefore disputed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?

What manner of saying is this that he said, You shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, there you cannot come?

They did not understand that he spoke to them of the Father.

Why do you not understand my speech? Even because you cannot hear my word.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog has turned back to his own vomit; and the sow that was washed has returned to her wallowing in the mire.

And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
