I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are you all.

For the ear tests words, as the mouth tastes food.

How forceful are right words! but what does your arguing reprove?

Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? or does the ox low over his fodder?

The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful food.

How sweet are your words to my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

And every offering of your food offering shall you season with salt; neither shall you permit the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your food offering: with all your offerings you shall offer salt.

You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be thrown out, and to be trodden under foot by men.

Salt is good: but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned?

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every person.
