Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, you are gone up: he stooped down, he lay down as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.

His children shall seek the favor of the poor, and his hands shall give back their goods.

And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Will you hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

But he saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them,

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but those who seek the LORD shall not be without any good thing.

Come, you children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

So that he does not tear my soul like a lion, breaking it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

The lion has come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he has gone forth from his place to make your land desolate; and your cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eats of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.

He crouched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesses you, and cursed is he that curses you.

Nevertheless the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
