And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Issachar is a strong donkey crouching down between two burdens:

For vain man thinks himself wise, though man be born like a wild donkey’s colt.

Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, they go forth to their work; rising early for a prey: the wilderness yields food for them and for their children.

Can you bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after you?

Their young ones are in good health, they grow up with grain; they go forth, and do not return to them.

Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? or does the ox low over his fodder?

They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy for wild donkeys, a pasture for flocks;

And the wild donkeys stood in the high places, they sniffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.

A wild donkey used to the wilderness, that sniffs up the wind at her pleasure; in her mating season who can turn her away? all those who seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appoints over it whomever he wills.

For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild donkey alone by himself: Ephraim has hired lovers.
