And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled over this thing; and he called his servants, and said to them, Will you not tell me which of us is for the king of Israel?

Your own mouth condemns you, and not I: yea, your own lips testify against you.

In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in difficulty: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.

You have enlarged my steps under me, so that my feet did not slip.

The LORD brings the counsel of the heathen to nothing: he makes the purposes of the people of none effect.

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous sings and rejoices.

When you go, your steps shall not be in difficulty; and when you run, you shall not stumble.

It shall be also carried to Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.
