Establish it now, provide me a pledge with you; who is he that will make an agreement with me?
I will be surety for him; of my hand shall you require him: if I do not bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame for ever:
For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, If I do not bring him to you, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
Call now, if there be any that will answer you; and to which of the saints will you turn?
Neither is there anyone to judge between us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
Be a guarantee for your servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
He who is a guarantee for a stranger shall suffer for it: and he who hates suretyship is sure.
A man lacking understanding strikes hands, and becomes security in the presence of his friend.
Take the garment of him who is a guarantee for a stranger: and take a pledge from him for a strange woman.
Do not be one of those who strike hands, or of those who are guarantees for debts.
So shall your poverty come as one who travels, and your want as an armed man.
Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I mourned like a dove: my eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; come and help me.
By so much was Jesus made a guarantee of a better covenant.
