O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a fire signal in Beth-haccerem: for evil appears out of the north, and great destruction.

And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched from there a wise woman, and said to her, I pray you, pretend to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and do not anoint yourself with oil, but be as a woman that has a long time mourned for the dead:

He built even Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,

But the dung gate was repaired by Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Beth-haccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

And next to them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles did not put their necks to the work of their Lord.

Behold, the sound of the rumor has come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will completely destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

The whole city shall flee at the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man shall dwell therein.

Thus says the LORD, Behold, a people comes from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the ends of the earth.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD has not done it?

The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the mixed go forth toward the south country.

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
