Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides from of old. Selah. Because they suffer no reverses, therefore they do not fear God.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his anger: but his lies shall not be established.

The land shall be completely emptied, and completely spoiled: for the LORD has spoken this word.

And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make for all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

I spoke to you in your prosperity; but you said, I will not hear. This has been your manner from your youth, that you did not obey my voice.

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will send to him wanderers, who shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceedingly proud) his loftiness, and his arrogance, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicacies, he has cast me out.

She is empty, and vacant, and ruined: and the heart melts, and the knees strike together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

For the LORD has turned away the excellence of Jacob, like the excellence of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and hurt their vine branches.

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men who are settled on their lees: who say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

And I am very much displeased with the heathen who are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
