To fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

Nevertheless for your great mercies’ sake you did not completely consume them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outermost fruitful branches thereof, says the LORD God of Israel.

Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty, and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad the inhabitants thereof.

To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passes by it shall be astonished, and wag his head.

And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

For I am with you, says the LORD, to save you: though I make a full end of all nations to which I have scattered you, yet will I not make a full end of you: but I will correct you in moderation, and will not leave you altogether unpunished.

Destruction upon destruction is announced; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents ruined, and my curtains in a moment.

The lion has come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he has gone forth from his place to make your land desolate; and your cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Therefore my fury and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are ruined and desolate, as at this day.

Fear not, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD: for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations to which I have driven you: but I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet will I not leave you wholly unpunished.

Go up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her fortifications; for they are not the LORD’S.

Nevertheless in those days, says the LORD, I will not make a full end of you.

Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of cheerfulness, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

And I will make Jerusalem heaps of ruins, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

The Lord has cast off his altar, he has abhorred his sanctuary, he has given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.

And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

Nevertheless my eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

For I will lay the land quite desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, so that none shall pass through.

So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.

And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them completely, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a sudden end of all those who dwell in the land.
