So the messengers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even to Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and became greatly upset, and mocked the Jews.

Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and did not go out of my house?

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that deserted to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue:

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make sport for us. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made sport for them: and they set him between the pillars.

Then he called hastily to the young man his armor bearer, and said to him, Draw your sword, and slay me, that men do not say of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.

And Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and your words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Then said Saul to his armor bearer, Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armor bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
