Jeremiah 37:7

Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall you say to the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.

But to the king of Judah which sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall you say to him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Concerning the words which you have heard;

And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt to the river Euphrates all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried out concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

And now what have you to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what have you to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

Why do you gad about so much to change your way? you also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

Yea, you shall go out from him, and your hands upon your head: for the LORD has rejected your confidences, and you shall not prosper in them.

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,

Inquire, I pray you, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us; perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go away from us.

And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to the LORD our God for us.

Then Pharaoh’s army came forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.

Then came the word of the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and no one helped her: the adversaries saw her, and mocked at her sabbaths.

As for us, our eyes continually failed looking for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.

Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company help him in the war, by building up mounds, and building forts, to cut off many persons:

And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look to them: but they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
