Afterward I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up in his house; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay you; yea, in the night will they come to slay you.

You have put away my acquaintances far from me; you have made me an abomination to them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

Then Pashur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

And I gave the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel my uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that signed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

Therefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.

So Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.

Then they took Jeremiah, and put him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sank in the mire.

And now, behold, I loose you this day from the chains which were upon your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well to you: but if it seems ill to you to come with me into Babylon, do not: behold, all the land is before you: where it seems good and convenient for you to go, go there.

Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labors more abundant, in stripes beyond measure, in prisons more frequent, in danger of death often.

For this reason I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

For which I am an ambassador in chains: that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

For which I suffer trouble, as an evildoer, even to being bound; but the word of God is not bound.
