Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? are you not he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait for you: for you have made all these things.

And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and disappointed, and covered their heads.

Because the ground is cracked, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.

Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.

Neither do they say in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season: he reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you.

O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? you have struck them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among those who fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be thrown down, says the LORD.

But the house of Israel will not listen to you; for they will not listen to me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:

And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one place was rained upon, and the place upon which it did not rain withered.

So two or three cities wandered to one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have you not returned to me, says the LORD.

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

The just LORD is in the midst of her; he will not do iniquity: every morning he brings his judgment to light, he never fails; but the unjust knows no shame.

And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.

And your heaven that is over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under you shall be iron.

See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if they did not escape who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven:
