For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.
Then the LORD said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I did not send them, neither have I commanded them, neither did I speak to them: they prophesy to you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their heart.
Thus says the LORD of hosts, Do not listen to the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
Who think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
Therefore do not listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon:
Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the remainder of the elders which were taken away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
Because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, says the LORD.
Your prophets have seen vain and foolish things for you: and they have not revealed your iniquity, to turn away your captivity; but have seen for you false messages and causes of banishment.
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD says: and the LORD has not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood lies, saying, I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he has prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; to the extent that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the elect.
And he said, Be careful that you are not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: therefore do not go after them.
That we from this time on be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried around with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, and cleverness, by which they lie in wait to deceive;
Let no one deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, unless there comes a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
And deceives those who dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshiped his image. These both were thrown alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
