From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even until this day, that is the twenty third year, the word of the LORD has come unto me, and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you have not listened.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and cleaved the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

And the king of Israel said to his servants, Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are quiet, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty one years.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.

And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up early, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

Oh that my people had listened to me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

And the LORD said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he comes forth to the water; and say to him, Thus says the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which does not satisfy? listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even until this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.

I spoke to you in your prosperity; but you said, I will not hear. This has been your manner from your youth, that you did not obey my voice.

And the LORD has sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but you have not listened, nor turned your ear to hear.

To listen to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent to you, both rising up early, and sending them, but you have not listened;

Because they have not listened to my words, says the LORD, which I sent to them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear, says the LORD.

And they have turned to me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for to this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: nevertheless I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you did not listen to me.

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return now every man from his evil way, and correct your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but you have not turned your ear, nor listened to me.

And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.

However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate.

And now, because you have done all these works, says the LORD, and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear; and I called you, but you did not answer;

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt until this day I have even sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

Then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and does not take warning; if the sword comes, and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

Be not like your fathers, to whom the former prophets have cried out, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; Turn now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor listen to me, says the LORD.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.

He that is of God hears God’s words: you therefore do not hear them, because you are not of God.

Preach the word; be on duty in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching.
