Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, says the LORD; who say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

For thus says the LORD to the king’s house of Judah; You are Gilead to me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make you a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

O you who dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the sides of the mouth of the pit.

Your dreadfulness has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, you who dwell in the openings in the rock, who hold the height of the hill: though you were to make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says the LORD.

We have heard the fame thereof: our hands grow feeble: anguish has taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in birth labor.

And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, long winged, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:

I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

And they have not cried to me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for grain and wine, and they rebel against me.

Though they dig into hell, from there shall my hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, from there will I bring them down:

Though you exalt yourself like the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there will I bring you down, says the LORD.

Woe to him who covets with an evil covetousness for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is your dwelling place, and you put your nest in a rock.
