Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the LORD; I remember you, the kindness of your youth, your bridal love, when you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; because the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.
Go forth, O you daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.
Then the LORD said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
Neither did they say, Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.
And in all your abominations and your whoredoms you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were polluted in your blood.
Now when I passed by you, and looked upon you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread the edge of my mantle over you, and covered your nakedness: yea, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord GOD, and you became mine.
And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the nipples of their virginity.
Neither did she leave her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.
And I will give her her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor as a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.
Put the trumpet to your mouth. He shall come like an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves to that shame; and their abominations were according to their love.
For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the works of your hand: he knows your walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.
And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.
You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore chooses to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
