Now therefore, what have I here, says the LORD, that my people are taken away for nothing? those who rule over them make them to howl, says the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
Their widows are multiplied to me more than the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a plunderer at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
O my mountain in the field, I will give your possessions and all your treasures to the plunder, and your high places for sin, throughout all your land.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labors thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, who shall plunder them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say to you, Are you come to take a spoil? have you gathered your company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
Therefore their goods shall become a plunder, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine of them.
